About
I am drawn to humanity in its endless variety, and believe in photography as a medium that uniquely captures the confluence of history with the present moment. My late grandfather Fred Winchell, who, in the late 1940s apprenticed under Yousef Karsh and Ansel Adams, inspired me from an early age to pursue a career in image-making.
After a childhood split between Houston, Texas and the mountains of Northern New England, I moved to New York City to pursue a degree and career in fashion photography. The series contained in this online portfolio comprise a mere fraction of my photographs I've taken in countless corners of the world. My work can be seen as an appreciation of boundaries, and the limits of light and life that can be observed.
For me, the camera is an extension of my visual sensibility, and I am happy to finally release these photographs back into the world, for all to see.
